Synopsis

"Walk into the World" is one of the most popular travel programs in Korea. Broadcasted by KBS, it has been aired 307 times since its launch on November 5, 2005. The director himself has visited countries and cities around the globe to film and write scripts.
"Fertile Channel ‒ Mekong Delta of Vietnam", the title we present this time, was aired on January 14, 2012. It captures the natural landscape and life of the people in the Mekong Delta region, where the Mekong River deriving from Chinese Tibet has traveled through Southeast Asia to meet the East China Sea.
Tens or hundreds of ships are working on the dirt-colored Mekong River, where people are sharing the richness of Vietnam. While trades of fruits, rice noodles and lottery tickets are rather common sights, the unique setup of the market on the water adds to the very strange scenery. Children rowing boats by themselves to school, farm animals accustomed to the peculiar environment of living on the water, surprisingly smart way of fishing… As we drop in on the daily life of the people there, their ordinary days become strangely interesting experiences for the tourist. Welcome to Mekong Delta, the traffic hub of the fertileness of the Mekong River.

Poon Yuen Yee, Elki was born in Hong Kong. She graduated from Chinese University of Hong Kong, School of Journalism and Communication. She started her career as a director in Radio Television Hong Kong. Elki had produced both drama and documentary programs during her career.They were varied in content concerning literatures, nature, environmental protection, and anti-drug issues. Her programs also aimed on various age groups including children, women and elderly. She believes that a good documentary always contains dramatic elements and a good drama always portraits life as real as a documentary. To her, production of a program is a way to concern the society and a mean to discover herself. She hopes that every media professional could have mission and vision to bring positive energy to the world.

Synopsis

More than 1200 years ago, the Hani, with the help of primitive tools, created the Terraces along the contour lines on the desolate Ailao Mountains in Yuanyang County. The collective endeavors of the nameless ancestors successfully turned the mountains into 170,000 acres of fields, providing nurture to more than 300, 000 villagers today.
Water is essential to farming. Although there is no reservoir in the mountains, the cloud sea and the forest stand as the important water sources for the farming activities there. The Hani regard trees as their guardian gods. Trees can store water. People's respect for trees has in a way protected the water sources in the mountains.As the ideas of maximizing economic benefits invade the territory, the original ecology of food and the strong paddy rice may disappear one day. However, the traditional wisdom has inspired the philosophies of ecology protection - the Hani have never tried to conquer the nature; instead, they live with the nature by creating the harmonious ecological system of forests, villages, terraced fields and rivers.

Synopsis

In western Japan lies a path called "Ohenro", a road of pilgrimage that has served as a spiritual foundation for people since ancient times. The route connects 88 sacred sites in the Shikoku Island that are related to Kobo-Daishi Kukai, a renowned monk in the early Heian period around the beginning of the 9th century. The 1,200-kilometer journey from Ryozen-ji temple in Tokushima Prefecture to Okubo-ji temple, the 88th stop in Kagawa Prefecture, will evoke diverse thoughts in the mind of each pilgrim. Recently, it has also become a popular destination among not only Japanese pilgrims but also international tourists regardless of nationality or religion. In this program, Bene, a prominent TV reporter in Japan with Senegalese origin, follows the "Ohenro" route. She meets lots of local people and talks to many other pilgrims en route, and through such experience becomes deeply impressed by the Japanese way of thinking based on consideration of others. At the end of the journey of soul spanning over four prefectures, at the 88th temple, what will it be that is forged on Bene's heart?

His works has won many prizes both at China and abroad. Among his TV Documentaries, a series of documentaries like《Happy Chinese New Year》,《Old Age Big Mansion》,《Old Shop of Flour Rolls Making》and《Xun Pu, a Famous Fishing Village in Quanzhou》are the top.
His TV Documentaries are spread out around the port city of Quanzhou, enjoying a good reputation of starting point of Maritime Silk Route in ancient time, telling his audience good story of this city. At the same time, his works reflects lives of people living and working in the city of Quanzhou with a long history. Synopsis

Traditional residential buildings in southern Fujian have a distinct style. With the vivid local characteristics and deep, multi-dimensional cultural contents, they are like the only rare flowers amongst the variety of traditional Chinese buildings. Most of such cultural buildings are private assets. In this episode we followed the
fifth-generation owner of one of such buildings, where the embarrassed face reveals the sour reality of protecting the large old building.
This film sticks to the true objective point of view as a real documentary. It closely follows the story of the joy and troubles after such buildings were designated for protection.
